    System: Dell Inspiron b130
    XP

    ...
My son's computer will not connect via the wireless connection.
I checked my daughter's computer (same system) in her Device Manager it shows that she has the Dell Wireless 1470 Dual Band WLAn Mini-PCI Card installed.
This device does not show up on my son's computer.
I went to dell and downloaded what I thought was the correct file to fix the problem. However, when I get to apparently one of the last steps it says that the driver cannot be installed because "No Compatible Hardware found. The software you are attempting to install is not supported on this system. The software will not be installed. Setup will now exit."

    Okay then....
I thought I was downloading the adapter I needed but apparently I wasn't.
Where can I find this adapter? And, while I am comparing my son's Inspiron B130 to my daughter's Inspiron B130 I realize there may be different adapters in use. So, is there a different, maybe better, wireless network adapter I can/should get?
    thanks
    gv

Hi gvgeek.... I'm using "Dell Wireless 1470 Dual Band WLAN Mini-PCI Card 3.100.35.1"... This works better... Also I am using Dell Inspiron b130... So It will work... I downloaded this version from soft32.com... If you want try this...

there may be a problem with the hardware not the software.
have you checked device manager to make sure it was being detected by your system.
Go to control panel>click on system >device manager find the pci card or network card. Is there a yellow mark anywhere on that page if so post back and let us know what it is.

Re: dell b130 wireless network adapter issue -- RESOLVED

    Hi,
You were right. There was an adapter showing in my control panel that was unknown. It had a "?" near it.
There were no identifying names or anything with the driver. I went into Properties and then Details. I really had no idea what I was doing :confused, frankly, but I copied the first entry found in the Device Instance ID (PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_4220&SUBSYS_27218086&REV_05\4&2FA23535&0&18F0) and pasted that line into google.
One entry routed me to a different support page where I found the same exact string :-D. Luckily someone posted some "code" where the ensuing line said: "Intel r pro wireless 2200bg."
From there I went to Intel and searched using "Intel r pro wireless 2200bg" and got the driver.

    Downloaded driver.
    Installed driver.
    VOILA
    Wireless interenet again.

Thanks to everyone for their help with this. Item resolved. :major
