Wireless Network Cameras

Hello

I would like to setup a secuirty system of sorts at home using webcams or a camera of connected to my established wireless network.

I have found 3 possible ways of doing this i would like to know the best one.

the first method is to purchase 2 or more wirless webcam's and network them with my existing wireless network, however i want to put a camera in my garage and the network will not reach that far what would be the best way to extend it?

the second method i considered is to use a wireless USB server i have seen a few of theese on the market, and i would just connect a half decent usb webcam to this. There seams very few avaible and the main question here is would it work?

Third method would be to use a wireless router and network it with my existing netgear router and connect two or more ethernet camera's to this.

The main questions are what would be the best method? and Whats the best way to extend the range of a wireless network?

Hello, You have provided lots of solutions to your problem. If it were *ME* I would opt to go with solution one. Buy your wireless cameras and work on improving your existing network. You can do this a few ways. First is buying an off the shelf High dB gain antenna for your router. They are out there and can be bought at any Circuit City, Best Buy type store for 11b or 11g. Second option is buy an additional AP (access point) or network extender to accommodate the additonal camera locations. I would avoid using a second router. The issue you will have is, it will have to be on second subnet, it cant be on the same one you are using now and you may have problems initially with traffic being blocked. As far as the USB thing.... Sorry, I know nothing about that at all.
