    Hi all

Until recently, I have been running Trend Micro Internet Security on an Acer 2480 laptop running Vista 32 SP2. This version of Trend Micro runs its own firewall software. Recently, I "upgraded" to Trend Micro Titanium Maximum Security this product reverts to using the windows firewall. The removal and re-installation was all done using Trend Micro's tools.

After the upgrade Windows Security Centre started to notifiy me that that the firewall had stopping for no apparent reason. The firewall is easily restarted using the button in the security centre but will drop out again later. There is no evidence of a second firewall other than the default windows one in the Windows Security Centre.

I contacted Trend Micro and after complete removal and re-installation of Titanium Maximum Security they told me it was a windows problem that Microsoft would have to fix ....

I noticed that the firewall stopped working when the wireless reconnected after a fade or when I choose to switch to the second wireless router in the house. Similarly, turning off the laptop wireless and back on using the same wireless router causes the firewall to stop.

Using a copper connection does not seem to suffer from the firewall stopping but this is not convenient.

My original thought was that the older version had left some firewall components behind that are not interacting well with the Windows firewall. I do not have any information to confirm or deny this.

As far as I can tell all the Windows firewall services are started and running.

I have not had any known virus issues on this machine.

Any ideas or suggestions how to fix this would be appreciated thanks.

    Regards DavidB

    Bump!

Upgraded to Trend Micro Titianium Maximum Security 2012 and still have the same problem.

Does anyone know how to write a batch file that will restart the file wall? If I can assign admistrator rights to the batch file any user can use the batch file withot my having to share the admin password.

    Thanks DavidB1
