Wireless network issues

hey buds!!

I've a couple of issues that I need help with.. I have a sony vaio laptop with in built wireless... However I turn it on and it does not pick up any networks under the "view available networks".. It keeps saying that "no wireless networks in range"... It however connects automatically to the wireless network set up in our building...just doesn't show it in the list of networks.. can anyone help???

btw.. i m using Kaspersky 2009.. Could that be the one blocking my wireless connection??
