    Hi all

I have a Netgear WGPS606 wireless print server, with Kyocera 1020D and Epson D88 printers attached. Most of the time they work ok, but if I try and send large documents to either of them PDF, Photo's etc. then I get printing problems. With the laser printer it will print a few pages then stop and the Inkjet will print half a picture then stop.
As both of them ,work fine without the damn print server I am pretty confident this is where the problem is. I have played with the settings in the print server and the firmware is the latest revision.
Is there any settings in windows I could change that may help? I have given up with Netgear support as the don't know anything.:(
Also as the rest of my wireless network is now N standard can anyone recommend a good N standard print server?

    Thanks in advance Dave

    Hi

I know that some printers do not support Wireless Print Servers sadly, so have you checked with Kyocera and Epson that those two printers support Print Servers?

Compatability list from Netgear HERE (quickly looked and your Kyocera is supported)

But what is the firmware version of the Netgear? may need updating if not at V1025 plus also check the Software version of the for it being at V2.0

    Try this troubleshooting steps http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/986

One change in the settings that may work as the data connection between the two devices needs to be constant is to untick the "enable Bi-Directional support" in the printers driver.

Personally, I would of thought that the printers would either work with the server, or not at all.

Is the Kyocera black and white?

If so, I think it may be a buffering issue between the print server and the computer.

    Halo:

As said the Netgear site lists the Kyocera as a valid printer, although it does not list the D88 it is not in the list of printer which do not work. Also on the D88 I can print a test page text and small picture files it is only on large files that it falls over.
Firmware at 1025, bi directional is off.

Black and white, I was thinking it may be something to do with buffering. Any ideas how to get around this?

Do the printers work correctly if you connect the computer to the printer server/switch with an Ethernet cable?

It took me a while but I connected the print server directly to my PC using an Ethernet cable, and tried to print a problem PDF file. It printed no problems, so I guessing that it is a problem buffering the data wirelessly. Has anyone got any ideas what I can do to fix this rather annoying problem.

    Many thanks

AFAIC it is a waste of money to buy 3rd party printer servers.

Printers are Not as standart as Mouse Keyboards PSU etc.

A 3rd party Gizmo can not be made compatible with many printers and will not support more than simple printing.

The strategy that I suggest is do have one good graphic printer that is connected directly to a computer, and an inexpensive AIO that is network ready by the manufacturer for general Network use

Wireless Network Ready AIO tcan be found for about $150 (Borther, Canon, HP).

Surly as the printer works fine with the print server connected to an ethernet cable, I should be able to get it to work wirelessly.

    Hi,

Not sure if this is still active, but I've had the same problem and was able to resolve it by deselecting the wireless network connections under the Windows Firewall > Advanced tab.
