Wireless problem

Wirelss problems...

Hey everyone,

I setup my Linksys wireless B last night. Well I hit connect and it shows connection "strong" at 11mb. But I can't connect to anything, Internet, messenger, or ...
I went to the last step to configure the router and entered 198.168.1.1 in the IE address bar and it would do anything. My laptop has an IP, as it's set to auto in the obtain ip and DHCP.

Any ideas?

 

Have you checked your DNS settings on your wireless router?

 

That's what I was trying to get to, the router settings, but I can't get to it.

I thought that's what the 198.XXX.X.X number was for, to change the settings in the router configuration.?

 

I think Linksys defaults their routers to 192.168.1.1.
Should say in the manual or on the CD.

 

That's exactly right.
But what I'm saying is when I type 192.168.1.1 in the IE address bar and hit enter, nothing comes up. How am I supposed to configure the Linksys Router if it won't take...? By the way I do have the manual for installing wireless and the CD for the PCI card.

I got the laptop and wireless working!
I had to disable WEP then I got access to the router settings and finished it up.
Surfing the web wireless baby! It's fast and sweet!
