My darling son threw my 3 year old laptop across the room a few months ago (he was severely punished and feels very bad about it now). Luckily, it was in the carrying case and landed on some padding, and so after a few false starts is now back up and running.

The only thing I have not been able to get back up and running is my wireless connection. The button to enable the wireless seems to be inop, I get no response when I press it.

Are there any ideas on how to get the wireless back up and running? The only thing I can think of is to take it apart and check connections, but that idea kinda scares me.

I'm not sure if I'm missing any necessary info, but if I am, please let me know and I'll try to provide it. Thanks a bunch!

Do you mean you feel no click, as if the button is stuck?
    what's the make model ?

If that's the only thing that is broken (the ability to turn off and on the internal wireless chip), just buy a USB wifi adapter and use that in place of the chip inside the laptop.
    example: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833314011
companies like Belkin, NetGear, Linksys, D-Link, Trendnet and others all make adapters.

The button clicks, but it has a little light on it, and that doesn't turn on. Nothing else seems to happen either.

It's an hp pavilion ze2000 laptop.

This is what you probably have in the machine Mini-PCI Wireless Card

Its possible the card needs pushing back into it's slot unfortunately I'm not familiar with this machine, try taking all the easy to remove covers off first before trying to crack the half shells apart and see if you can see the wireless card.

Ended up opening the laptop and removing & reinstalling the wireless card several times to no avail. Then as a last resort, I checked the wires running from the card. Turns out one was loose, so once I fixed that the wireless worked fine. Thanks so much for your help! ;)
