cant seem to use wireless router in certain parts of house, it was free when signed up with ISP. Will a new router help, if so what do i need to improve on it? cheers

What make and model is that router? Are there brick walls between parts of the house where the router sits and where you want to get a wireless connection? Is a laptop PC mainly what you're concerned with here? Does it have built-in wireless connectivity or are you using a USB Wifi adapter?

    hi
there are brick walls and we are using laptops with built in wireless. the odd thing is that they work in one part of the lounge and not another. the router is upstairs in the study.
the modem is a basic sagem one doesnt seem to have any model no. it came with my sky broadband.
    thanks

I can't say for sure but I suspect a new major brand router might resolve the problem, although brick walls can make things difficult. newegg.com has a good deal on D-Link DIR-615. Some of the buyer reviews posted on the site mentioned getting a strong signal with it.
