I have an old IBM Thinkpad T30 and am using a NETGEAR 108Mbps Wireless PC Card Mod WG511T attempting to connect to an AT&T Mod 3800HGV-B wireless box. I can get it configured but after it connects, it fails indicating that the connection can not get an IP address. The signal is strong and everything appears to be OK, just can't get an IP address. I have disabled the Windows Firewall. I know I am missing something that probably should be obvious, but I am casual to the most obvious observer??? The NETGEAR WG511T Smart Wizard indicates that it is connected to the Router, with a strong signal, at 54Mbps. But "limited or no connectivity.":cry

Try going into services and shutting down the WZC (Wireless Zero Configuration) service.
Go to START > run > Type services.msc > Press ENTER
Scroll down to the service, right click and choose properties, if started hit Stop button and you can also change start up type to manual. I suspect you have 2 connection applications running and they are conflicting with each other.

Thanks for the info, but I get the same results. I even uninstalled all the NETGEAR stuff and reinstalled it for a fresh start. I do have an ethernet connection defined, but I disabled it. Should I completely uninstall the Enet stuff? It says the signal is good and it is connected, but then fails to retrieve and IP address from the ?router?. It is looking for the IP addr from DHCP.

    Let me fix it myself
If your computer or your wireless network adapter did not come
with its own wireless network software, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type ncpa.cpl, and then click OK.

    Click Network Connections.

In Network Connections, click to select your wireless connection,
and then click Change settings of this connection.

On the Wireless Networks tab, click to select the Use Windows to
configure my wireless network settings check box.

To start the Wireless Zero Configuration service, follow these steps:

Click Start, click Run, type %SystemRoot%\system32\services.msc /s,
    and then click OK.

    Double-click Wireless Zero Configuration.

In the Startup type list, click Automatic, and then click Apply.

In the Service status area, click Start, and then click OK.
If you receive an error message when you try to start the service, see
the "References" section for more troubleshooting information.

I really appreciate your time and assistance and figured the least I
could do was to let you know what I found! :hyper :celebrate

I hope this info is useful to you.
