    hello folks

I would like to know if there is anyway possible to fix a computer wirelessly. I live 2 hrs away from my moms house and I have to go there atleast once a week b/c she has messed up some setting or other. What I would like to be able to do is fix it from my house over a connection (or w/e u wanna call it) something similar to what verizon does...u can see what the person is doing on your screen as they fix it, change settings etc.

Please let me know it would be very helpful...TIA

    Nic

What you're referring to is called "Remote Assistance" and it just ahppens to be built-in to Windows XP. Here's some info:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Remote_Assistance
    http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using/helpandsupport/learnmore/remoteassist/intro.mspx
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/bb457004.aspx
The last link is a very detailed step-by-step that explains exactly how to get it all working. Obviously, both PCs must be connected to the internet, both PCs must be running Windows XP, and both PCs must have Windows Messenger installed. If you have two PCs in your house, or a friend with a PC, it's probably a good idea to get familiarized with it all first, before jumping into a repair project remotely. Printing the info in that last link might be a really good idea too.

    Good luck!
