WMF vulnerability

Hmm don't know if you guys have talked about this one yet, didn't want to trawl through the last few weeks of posts to find out. Anyways I just found out about it so thought I'd let you know. A few weeks ago I posted here about I'd just been infected with some malware/spyware - out of the blue - and I had to reformat my pc to get rid of the infection it was that serious. This happened despite having all the programs you recommend to install and being quite security conscious. Well - I found out what I had!!! THIS!!

Apparently it is a new serious microsoft exploit and there is little - if anything - you can do about it (as I found out) save using firefox (where it can not be transmitted). Anyways I'm not too clever so I'll post the links and let you read it from the boffins mouths.

The variant I contracted was similar but not as rough looking. For a start I got no icons on the desktop save one for a legitimate looking antispyware program that I did not choose to install. I also got a few extra system tray icons which beeped every 3 seconds alerting me that I had a virus/spyware and if I did not pay some cash to said legitimate looking program my pc would remain vulnerable. At one point my keyboard locked up and I watched my documents folder open up and close. When I checked my internet connection status I was uploading and downloading at maximum rate for about 3 minutes, so I pulled the plug from the mains and reformatted.
