I've had problems with unfinished install messages popping up at various times. It might be related to a message I got when I recently tried to run Windows Media Player v9. I usually use MMJB.

    Message is
    My questions are:
    1. Can I uninstall WMP v9 completely without affecting my XP Pro, SP2 installation. How much is it intertwined with XP Pro. There doesn't appear to be an uninstall program within the WMP v9 Folder.

    2. I don't want to install the latest version of WMP (now v11, I believe)

    3. In Add / Delete programs, in Control Panel, the following entries occur.
(see Thumbnail). Do I delete all entries?

Need lots of help here. Bazza

Why are you asking about uninstalling WMP 9 when you still have WMP 10 installed? What I would do is uninstall WMP 10 and then download it again and reinstall it, or stay at WMP 9 (after uninstalling WMP 10) if that works for you. You can get WMP 10 here: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/10/default.aspx

I don't know about Windows Media Format Runtime. So, maybe you need to find out more it about before proceeding with any changes.

I see your programs list in Add or Remove Programs differs from mine, even though we both have WMP 10 installed. See below:

Thanks Steve, I'll do a full backup and try and re-install WMPv9 over my dodgy WMPv9 and see what happens. Bazza
