WMP burn CD (terrible Help menu)

Windows Media Player seems to be a particularly irritating example of software that should be easy to use, but was put together by people who have sadistic intent to frustrate others.

My current objective is to burn a CD from some WMA files I have on my hard drive. I don't want to mess with "The Library" if I don't have to, because that is a completely worthless feature to me. Apparently, though, the people who came up with the software were so enamored with the concept of The Library that it never occurred to them that there might be someone who could do without it.

The Help menu, as is usually the case, is written by people living in their own little world, who are incapable of constructing a list of instructions that can be accomplished without having read another tutorial hidden somewhere else.

In this case, the page entitled "Burn a CD in Windows Media Player" contains the following line of advice, which is applicable to my problem:

"To add a file that is on your computer but not in your library, right-click the file and then click Add to Burn List, or drag the file to the List pane."

Now, this should solve all my problems, right? Sure, except that is gives you absolutely no guidance on how to get to the file in order to right-click it. The file does not appear on my screen. All I see is 1. The insipid "library" in the middle of the screen. 2. On the right of the screen, there is a menu consisting of "Playlists", "Library", "URGE", and "Blank Disc (D: )". The is no "My Computer", "browse", or anything else that might give me access to my C: drive.

At the top there is a menu bar showing "Music", "Library", and "Songs". None of these take me to my C: Drive. Over to the right there is a dropdown box that says "Search". Also worthless.

The menu at the very top of the Classic Menu shows the usual File, View, Play, Tools, and Help. I click on File, which finally lets me access the C: Drive, if I click on "Open". But right clicking on the file I want does not give me a menu with an option of "Add to Burn List".

So now I'm out of ideas. Surely there is someone here on this message board who has this figured out. HELP?!?

You don't need to navigate to the file through WMP. Open the folder the song is in with Explorer, then click on it and drag it over onto the list pane of WMP and drop it there. It will then be added to the list.
