Just signed up for it. Our new house will be set up with 9Mbps on Monday.

Of course we won't be moved in yet :p

And here I thought the 7Mbps service from Qwest I just signed up for was rocking.

Stop it you guys you're making me jealous. I'm in the middle of nowhere with only one rural phone line. We would be better off using homing pigeons.

I'm on Time Warner Road runner at home. How can you find out what the speed is.....besides calling them??

Mine was 1.6Mbps at the McAfee web site. I'm assuming that is upstream?? Didnt give me any other speed??

You have to be careful about those online speed tests. They can be wildly inaccurate because of internet traffic to the servers, traffic on your network, your traceroute to the server, etc... You should call your ISP and see if they have a website on their server where you can check bandwidth. They will also be able to tell you what bandwidth you are paying for.

With my 7Mbps connection, Ive yet to find one accurate tester.

Ive tested it by using something like Leechget and opening multiple download streams.

My ISP has one that is on their server. My 6 meg connection tests right on the money.

The only problem with that is, you dont know if you are getting those speeds across the net. ISP specific testers bypass most of the backbone and can be deceptive in that manner.
