Well my computer in the Dining room has been acting up a lot but i'm never on it, my parents are. So I ran a SpyBot, and it deleted A LOT of virus's, then I ran a Disk CleanUp and a CleanUp program. After that I ran a Ad Aware in which it found 411 objects:eek: So after deleting everything, the computer was going slow, so i decided to restart, so it got to the 2nd screen where it was about to restart and then it did nothing. So I ctrl alt del twice to restart, then it just gave me a Windows Milienimum screen and did nothing, the button said it was still running but it didn't do anything. So I forced shut down by pressing the button and let it sit for 30 seconds before booting back up, nothing, so i forced shut down again and then tried a Safe Mode, same thing. So I forced shut down again and now i'm just letting it sit there w/ the milenium screen, whats wrong with it?

After these scans there may have been lot of work needed upon reboot which may be why your computer 'appears' to have not booted. How much time have you given it to finish booting, Are the Hard Drives still spinning when it appears to have stopped.

I hear it booting or loading or w/e while the light blinks likes crazy. I know last time it did this, I let it sit for almost an hour and still didn't do antyhing so I mean how long would it normally need to reboot cuz its still rebooting now since last time I forced shut down

I've seen computers take half an hour or so.

Make sure it is disconnected from the internet. This sometimes helps.

Your other option is a repair from a windows disc. Im pretty sure ME should have a repair option so you shouldn't lose userfiles.

If you can get it booted come back and let me know. Its obvious you still have major problems with it and theres some steps we will need to take to fix it.

there honestly is really nothing on the dining room computer, maybe a couple of files but their old and useless. So I mean I don't understand why it would take so long to update when we have nothing on there

You just said you are ran several scans which removes a lot of things. Therefore it obviously has issues and the chances are it still has issues. If we can get it booted then we can fix these.

    Please try the following steps.

1: Whilst your computer is off unplug it from the wall so it is completely powered down and wait 10 seconds before plugging it in again. (This will reset any hardware that is in an 'error' mode)

2: DIsconnect any printers, scanners or other hardware you don't need

3: Unplug from the internet either by disconnecting the network cable or disconnecting the modem.

4 Now turn it on, walk away and have a cup of tea. Give it about 30 minutes if theres still no progress we'll have to do a repair.

Well now we have it booted you need to address some issues.

I can almost guarantee you still have some malware on there.

Just to be sure lets go through these steps

    - Please run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support

Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.

After doing ALL of the above you still have a problem make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below link to properly use HijackThis and attach a log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis

When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too (these scans are covered in steps 6 & 7 of the READ & RUN ME sticky)

    Bitdefender
    Panda Scan
    HijackThis

    Good Luck!:)

I have HijackThis Log but this site seems so anal about posting that first, I always fine posting that one first saves a lot of time

Well we have the steps for a reason. They help us and you to get to the root of the problems quicker without having to repeat certain things.

I really do reccomend you follow the steps in that thread. There is no point posting a HJT log before completing these steps as there will be things in it that would have been already covered. This would therefore be a waste of your time as well as ours.

I don't know I always thought HJTL was always easier, but this site is like my last hope of helping fixing malware and stuff. that site, systemanswer.org or what ever its called, banned both my IP addresses because i was very unpleased in what they instructed me to do with my computer. They kept telling me over and over to read the instructions carefully in which I did, but all the instructions were were just copied and pasted segments from other tutorials which annoyed me because I folled them word for word and i wound up deleting my windows file because of it and they don't feel the need to take any blame for the cruddy instructions given so all in all they banned my IP Address for apsolutly no reason and i believe they are to be very unprofessional about it

Well we try very hard here to help.

I understand that there is a lot to read there but OUR steps were written by an expert and were written to be as understandable as possible. They are updated regularily to deal with any of the latest threats.

I can really do no more than ask you again to follow the steps in the above post. It would be in your best interests and you may learn a lot in the process.

Hopefully you will agree, Take you time with the 'steps' and come back when your done , theres always someone here to help.

Hello RE2LeonS:) I'd like to take this opportunity to explain a few things as you have brought up some concerns about our procedures here at MajorGeeks.

Our steps provided in the READ & RUN ME FIRST thread have several purposes. The steps given will get your computer into a known state so that further assistance can be provided. In following the steps you should have uninstalled any malicious programs you likely were not aware were malicious. You would have enabled the viewing of hidden & system files. No one program, virus scanner etc. detects everything so you would have run programs like SpyBot & CCleaner which will clean out things like temp. internet files where many malicious things can be hiding. You would have run scans with BitDefender and Panda which will not only identify, but in many cases remove viruses, trojans, etc. AND provide us with a log showing us what was found so we know what specifically needs to be done in order to eradicate these malicious things from your computer.

And finally, you would run HijackThis and provide us with a log from that. Many people, or I should say MOST people are under the very mistaken misconception that HJT is a malware removal tool. It is not. HJT is simply a tool that is used to identify browser hijackers and in some cases it will show entries for 'some' malware that is for instance running at startup, but it by no means shows everything. Those who have infected computers and are relying on HJT without the benefit of running other scans such as BitDefender & Panda, CCleaner, etc. are more than likely still infected. In most cases, where there is one virus/trojan there is more.

Without following the steps and doing your part to get your computer into a known state, it is very difficult, time consuming and frustrating for anyone here to provide support. Having your computer in a known state and you having provided the logs means we can just give you the fix. People here want to help but we need you to do your part to.

We've had 100% success with our steps when they are followed...I think that speaks for itself don't you?:)

I do hope this has helped to explain our approach and why we are as you say anal about the scans and logs. It's a necessary evil. HJT while a useful tool will not get your computer cleaned of malware on it's own..there are far to many things it doesn't even pick up.

Good luck with getting everything back up and running smooth!:)
