I want to be able to test out my web site locally so I attempted to start the IIS. The IIS could not start because the W3SVC service was not running. I went to Windows Services, found World Wide Web Publishing Service and attempted to start the service. I got the error message in the attached image.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I'm running Windows 10

    Many thanks!!

Is anything interesting in the eventlogs? Do you have any other web service using the same ports as IIS? Like Apache, etc?

Are the dependency services running? I think they are: Windows Process Activation Service, Remote Procedure Call, DCOM Server Process Launcher, and RPC Endpoint Mapper.

    1. Go to an admin DOS command prompt.
    2. Use the command "iisreset"
    3. Reboot
    This should solve the problem.
