I recently downloaded and used the program PreView from here, at majorgeeks.com. When the scan was complete it told me that my computer was still vulnerable to many forms of threats, many of them Exploit and Worm types.
I was wondering, what's the best protection against these threats (preferably freeware)? Is there any program that you guys specifically prefer using? Or else, how can I configure my protection so that these threats are also covered?
    Thanks, Faust.

Thanks for the tip and welcome AbbySue.
However, that thread is the first one I checked out (and follwed) when i first came here to MG. Still, the testing program (the afore mentioned PreView) still shows that I am vulnerable to too many threats for my taste.
I tried scouring the download pages for more specific programs (anti Exploit and Worms), but came up with only one (AntiWorm), which updates very slowly.
My question was more related to specifics, that to malware in general. Thanks for the help though! :)

I tried PreView myself, it seemed pretty clear that the program tries to sell you the authors program for hardening your computer, even if you have quite good security. PreView is still useful, if you take it with a grain of salt.

In the sticky, I noted it says ewido is a 15-day trial. It's actually free for just the scanner/remover tool. At the end of the 14-day trial, the background guard and auto-update features are disabled if you don't pay for it, but you can continue to use the on-demand scanner (and update it manually) indefinitely. I highly recommend it.

You can have the scanner along with another program that offers real-time protection (I have it along with MS AntiSpyware) without slowing down your system, since it doesn't run all the time.

I would seriously as greenknight32 mentioned take this program with a major pinch of salt I just tested it and it gave me a low score because it said I didnt have AV protection.. oooops!!!

it knows I have a AV installed but says its not active... running processes tell me otherwise.

plus gained a low score in system hardening... but reading up on there suggested software to fix this I find that I have most if not all of the options they give covered by either disableing services ( eg. Remote Desktop/Registry to the messenger service disabled *which is automatically disabled when SP2 is installed* ) or registry edits.

Options to safe surfing are as Abbysue pointed out use the software and tips in the guide to greenkinghts suggestion of ewido and to mine of keep your PC fully upto date with windows updates.

but another app I tend to also use as a 2nd opinion is http://majorgeeks.com/a-squared_a²_Free_edition_d4281.html a great compliment to your already installed AV, this specifically hunts trojans, dialers etc and updates on a regular basis.. this software is a on demand scanner.

    Thanks for the tips.
I know PreView should be taken with a pinch of salt since it tries to sell you the main program, but still, gaining a high score on everything but the threat section kinda alarmed me.
I'll definitely try out Ewido and a².
