worm.Win32.NetSky

I have a desktop and a laptop with the same virus / symptoms. The first being a pop-up stating that I have the worm.Win32.NetSky and a Windows Security Alert pop-up "Windows has detected an Internet attact attempt..." There have been three icons placed on my desk top "Error Cleaner", "Privacy Protector" and "Spyware and Malware Protection" They cannot be deleted from my desktop. Lastly the browser self directs itself to different spyware removal sites.

I have done all of the steps suggested before posting the thread, except I was unable to run the online scan Bitdefender. I have attached to this thread the HijackThis log and the runkeys.txt and newfiles.txt.

Please help in getting this removed. Prior to the suggstions from Magorgeeks I ran SmitFraudFix and it seemed to remove the virus only temporarily.

Please help on what to do next so that I do not have to reformat!!

There are a few issues we need to address before we begin.

First, there are no signs you ran the online scans so please try them again. If they will not run in normal mode then try to run them in Safe Mode.

Second, you need to rename HJT to "analyzethis.exe" and attach a fresh log.

 

Thanks for you response. But I reformatted the drive which got rid of the trojan.

 

We hate to hear you formatted however by doing so you should be clean. I would check out the thread below to prevent future infections.
