Wrong default Console Code Page

Hello.

After running the Major Geeks Malware removal guide, a number of problems arose.

One of them is my command prompt using the wrong console code page by default.

Right now the default console code page is 1252, but since I'm Swedish I want to use 850 or 865 (nordic) as my default.


I've tracked down the registry entries for these settings, but I don't want to change anything on my own.

I already know about the CHCP command, and it does allow me to temporarily change the Console Code Page.

But the issue at hand is setting the default console code page to something other than 1252, since everytime I open a command prompt the active console code page has been reset.

I've come to the conclusion that it can be changed by editing a registry key called OEMCP in
"HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Nls\CodePage "

But I have two instances of CurrentControlset (CurrentControlset1 and CurrentControlset2), and I'm at loss which one I should edit.

Thank you for the link, tgell, but the problem no longer remains.

As this wasn't the only thing malfunctioning I decided to go with a clean installation of Windows in hope that it would solve the problems at hand.

While it did solve this problem with the code page, the other two still remains.
