19" seems to be the sweet point for size and $ at the moment.

But I'd like to get a higher resolution than my 10 year old trinitron QQ.

    What's the outlook?

Are there any forums dedicted to display technology out there?

I know the technology exists, hell my 15" laptop display runs 1400x1050 natively.

Pivot function is going to be important to me too.

I recently used one in a build for a friend. EXCELLENT, if i had the 300 bucks, i would DEFINETELY purchase one, i love that monitor!

The only thing i had a little bit of trouble with was installing the D-Sub cable, just because its at an awkward ange, a screwdriver makes all the difference. Other than that, this monitor is a dream!

Im using an LG 1980U and I just love it - the 12ms time is good for gaming and its got an auto pivot function using the built in gravity sensor. The sensor detects changes in the angle and automatically spins windows around. You can also flip it bacwards and have windows mirror automatically. As someone who works a lot on word docs, page layout and producing music with reason, the rotated screen is a hell of a lot more helpful. The 1980Q is rated better with an 8ms response time and has got a lot more favourable reviews so I would recommend that - though the only downside is that its native res is 1280x1024. (though im using a 19"CRT at the office run at 1600x1200, I can definitely say that the 19"LCD running at 1280x1024 is much easier on the eye.

I'm looking for a higher than 1280 x 1024 native resolution. If there's nothing on the market, I was wondering if anyone knew of any developments that might lead to such models in the not too distant future.

    The nicest 19" 1280 x 1024 I've seen is the Viewsonic FP191B.

I hear your regarding the sharpness of LCD screens. I think CRT's can be good to, but they do degrade over time.
