WTH (Microshaft Movie Maker)

I made a movie in Swish to honor my soldier who was killed in combat June 11th, because we have a ceremony August 16th (his birthday) which I decied to make this video for...

Anyhow, in typical Microshaft fashion (you know, where the MS programers always decide what YOU want to be done rather than letting you do it yourself) when I open the video in Movie Maker for the express purpose of converting the file from .AVI (how it is exported from Swish) and adding a soundtrack, it cuts off the end of the movie.

Basically when the final text is faded in, there is about ten seconds of video before it stops...but when it is imported into MM it breaks the AVI into about 12 clips, the 12th is the clip in question. It cuts off the final clip no matter what I do, so that the last piece of text before the pause before the end doesn't even finish fading in before the movies stops. WTF!!!?!?!?!?

I went back and checked, and watched the silent AVI file that is exported from Swish, and sure enough - it fades the last piece of text all the way in and has the pause. What the hell is going on when I put it in the Microshaft program?

If anyone can help either fix the MM problem, or tell me why when I add music to the Swish file and export it, it only exports video not sound, or suggest a program that is free (and wont add some watermark on the video) and adds audio....that would be great.
