    Hi Guys,

I've got a Gigabyte X79-UD5 running Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit. I plugged in a usb cable connected to an e-cigarette to the front usb hub and the pc suddenly shut off and I see no signs of power at all. It doesn't turn on, I see no lights anywhere on it.

I've never had a problem like this and I don't even know where to start so I figured I'd ask you guys.

    Help!

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Did you try unplugging the device and restarting the PC?

It sounds like the e-cig and/or the cable had a short in it. Although rare, I've seen this happen with other USB devices. Usually, if you leave the PC off for a few minutes and/or unplug it for a few minutes, the system should return to normal.

If it damaged the PC, let us know. We may have to petition the government to demand a label stating "WARNING: The Surgeon General has determined that e-cigarettes may be hazardous to your PC's health." (Sorry...I couldn't resist making the joke.)
