Anyone familiar with this particular firewall? If so, what is your take on it?

Two excellent and free firewalls: Online Armor and Comodo v 2.4 (for the moment avoid v3)

The firewall is free; the source code and other programming related to the firewall is what they are selling.

I've used it; it's protection is about the same and it's easier on resources than ZoneAlarm, but that's not saying much.

Yes. No outward protection in Basic and it isn't clear that you need to set up in Advanced mode. Most people just set up a firewall and forget it.

apparently the CEO of Comodo isn't happy dealing with the facts about v3 of his firewall.

Just based on the behavior of the CEO of Comodo, I personally, will look elsewhere for a firewall. YMMV.
