Hello all, I hope I can get helped on this issue.

The problem is I was playing Gears of War when I head some weird scraping noise and I instantly knew it was coming from the cd drive/tray so I rushed over and ejected it and took out the cd, but then I closed the cd tray/drive but it automatically opens again.

Very annoying problem, I want to know what the problem is and if I can fix it my self because the guarantee ran out a while ago so I have to pay £60 to get it repaired from them no matter what the problem is.

First things first: Is the game disc okay? :eek

I've never come across this problem myself, though heard of others who had it. Theirs was under warranty still, so they sent it in and got it fixed. Off the top of my head, I'd guess that some of the many moving parts around the drive bay/sled are either a little out of alignment or in the process of breaking on you. How comfortable are you with the thought of cracking the case open and poking at the pars inside? If it's out of warranty you don't have to worry about that part, but if you don't know what you're doing you may accidentally turn your console into a doorstop... not a pleasant thought.

I have found this website helpful for me in the past, but unfortunately I don't think it covers your particular issue.
