    Hi guys,

I just bought a pc and I got XP prof. in it.

My opinion about XP pro. is it's just like
win ME but its stability is enhanced.
For me, 2K with SP4 is still better than
XP-sp1. XP has a lot of feature that 2K doesnt,
but those additional features then make XP-pro
    less stable than 2K pro.

    what's is your opinion... ?

    ;-)

I think to compare anything to ME is actually an insult ;) I think I would say its more like an improved Windows 2k for the home user, so your probably a lot closer there. I dont know if its less stable then 2k, its not for me , both are really solid.

Comparing Win XP to Win ME is like comparing apples and oranges, they are both fruit but that is as far as it goes.

Before comparing them run them both on the same system with all of XP's extra features turned off.

All of those features can be turned off if you don't want them.
If you want you can make Win XP look, feel, and act like Win 2K but with better performance and greater stability.

Except for widgets, the only improvements XP has over 2k are:
    Faster booting.
    System restore points.
DNS instead of NetBIOS for network share resolution (which makes them not like talking to each other... making the improvement somewhat dubious for the moment).

Since I own 2k, I'm not going to bother with XP. I do own an XP Home liscence, but the CD is a Dell OEM CD. I'd rather not use that.

I'm waiting for Longhorn. WinFS's SQL-based file system should be sweet.

I've never read the EULA properly on an OS. If you own an OEM CD like da chicken does, is it OK to get a 'normal' XP CD and install it on your machine?

It seems logical to me, after all you do 'own' a license to the software.
