XP blocking Vista

Readers Digest version. Vista 64 crashed and burned could not get past BSOD. Was going to use the restore partion on the hard drive to install it back to factory (HP System) But before I did that I need to get all my files off the Hard drive. Bought new Hard Drive Installed it but needed to partion and format it so I pulled out my Windows XP professional disk and installed it on the New Hard drive.. All went well and I was able to move all my files to the new drive. Went to use the restore partion and it boot to XP. Disconected the new hard drive and got an error unable to find XP. Any way to get the Vista 64 to Load up so I can use my restore Partion?
