    Hello everyone,

    I have noticed the CDRW (Asus CRW-4832as) isn't working in my 2 year old Compaq Presario SR1103WM. It has a yellow exclamation mark by it, and i have tried numorous things to remedy the problem. I've followed all the steps on the website, and still it doesn't work.

    So as a desperate man, i ask of you intelligent people to aid me to a solution, that hopefully doesn't end in replacing it.

    Bit of a long shot but how about checking if you can see it if you go to Disk Management in admin tools. If it's there and you right click it, see if you can get the properties box to open. Then see if it says Use this device (enable).

    * edit. Have you installed any software that might have changed the drive letter ? Something called DLA (drive letter access) comes to mind, but I can't remember what happens with it. My computer got messed up once with that, and both the CD drives disappeared.

    Try uninstalling the current drivers and rebooting the computer. Let windows detect the drivers automatically. See if that will work.

    I think you can try getting a newer driver for the cd driver or the firmware i think :S

    Restoring Access to CD ROMs

    If you removed CD Burning software, or for some other mystical reason, can not longer access your CD ROM's,
    in most cases following registry keys needs to be deleted:

    Locate and delete the UpperFilters and LowerFilters values under the following key in the registry:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
