XP Drivers for a Vista Supported Laptop

My wife just got a laptop that came with Windows Vista, rather than just try it out, she let my opinion tint her opinion and she immediately asked me to put XP on it. No problem. Well XP is on there now, but none of the drivers for internet and other things are on there. So I came here to the handy forums and perused the drivers section, found one helpful one and realized I didn't have chipset driver either and that post seems to be saying I need that first.

Honestly though the largest problem I'm running into is that it's a Gateway and the on-line Gateway Driver Support is for Vista only.
I tried seeing if the "Vista" drivers were compatible but they aren't and Googling both the driver Gateway says I need and the device name produced nothing of Value.

I guess the my first question will come down to, where do I find XP drivers for this laptop? It's a Gateway MT3422 if that helps at all.
I'm sure I'll have more questions on it later.

    It states upon installation:

This computer seems to have a nVIDIA "C51" motherboard chipset.
the current version of EVEREST you are running does not fully support your system.

Blah blah blah submit a thing over the internet you don't have.

Summary of the LT it pulls up is

    OS: Microsoft Windows XP Pro
OS Service Pack: Service Pack 1
    DirectX: 4.08.01.0810(DirectX8.1)
    XXXXXXXXXX (Personal info)
    XXXXXXXXXX (Personal info)

    Motherboard~
    CPU Type: Unknown, 1700 MHz
    Motherboard Name: Gateway
    Motherboard chipset: unknown
    Sustem Memory: 960MB
    BIOS Type: Phoenix (06/06/07)

    Display~
    Video Adapter: nVIDIA C51
    3D Accelerator: nVIDIA C51

And then some other stuff as well..

I don't like messing with drivers too often. I have a bad history of making devices not work after messing with them so I don't want to just start running random drivers -I THINK- should work. I rather have someone else's input.
    Thank you for any help.

Hmmm, it says the wireless card inside it is a Realtek RTL8185.
I tried searching for it in the Top Driver's Post with all the links but all the Realtek Driver pages must be down or something. Kind of annoying.
Gonna keep trying some. Work and home have been so hectic I'm not being able to put the time forth needed to get this thing running so I apologize in advanced if there are delays between my replies.

Your gonna have one hell of time finding drivers, espcially that its designed for vista. I would just reinstall vista and use it. But good luck on finding all the proper drivers.

Try drivers for MX3422 (gateway.com). I believe it has the same motherboard with MT3422. I've done Vista to XP downgrade with my friend's laptop and it works just fine. MT3422 runs a lot faster with XP.

Install a good Window Tuneup Software for smoother performance... Good luck. :)
