XP drivers for Dell Studio 1536

Hi ionEyes!! I have a Dell studio 1536 and I'm having all the trouble you described in switching my OS from Vista to XP, could you please help me???? :-o

If you can, please send me the drivers you've found!!! And let me know if there's anything I can do for you, I've read what you guys said and almost get it but still need a lot of help

I can relate to your situation - I recently downgraded a Gateway desktop from Vista to XP for a friend, and it was a pain to find XP drivers.

I started by searching the net for the motherboard model, and found that a few commercial PC's manufacturers used it or a variation of it - some had XP drivers that worked for the board I had.

What I ended up doing to find most of them was go to the home support page for the PC and check the Vista drivers listed and what hardware they were for - I then searched for XP drivers for that specific hardware. Trial and error worked for the audio drivers . .

I was unable to find the network drivers for the board, so I manually installed a generic set of drivers and that worked well enough for me to go online with it and search Microsoft for drivers and driver updates - I found the rest that way.

Good Luck - I'm at work now and unable to do comprehensive searches for downloadable items or I'd try and find more info for you. I'll try and check later. That link on post #13 for the driverguide site is still valid, also . . .

Sorry for not getting back to this thread sooner. I have not received updates for the thread, so did not know these newer posts were in here.

My apologies.

Rachel: You can get Studio 15 series drivers for XP. I am running them right now and everything (apart from firewire) is working well. I just disable the firewire device as I don't need it.

Spad: the link you provided is for Vista drivers. I read some place that Dell 'may' provide XP drivers for 1537, but it does not look like they have done so.

I have created a Torrent, through which you can get these drivers now.

You will need to get a torrent client to get the drivers, will then come down from my machine here. What that means is be patient. It could take days for this to download fully, so be patient. If you leave your torrent client running for several days, it will download.
Its 700mb. I did think about zipping to save space, but in this open format, others can just get the bits they need - rather than everyone having to download the entire package. I know some will do that though.
