    I would download Everest or PcWizard, get all the details for your hardware and motherboard, then look for xp versions of the hardware, chipset, etc. Start by looking at the HP site for the same hardware using XP drivers, then on to your hardware manufacturers sites for XP drivers, and then finally Google.
    Everest: http://www.majorgeeks.com/download.php?det=4181
    PcWizard: http://www.majorgeeks.com/PC_Wizard_d3846.html

    Myself I would get used to Vista, find apps that you need or similar versions that work with Vista, and make sure you have enough RAM to enable Vista to perform right.

    A little more info: these are the drivers you need to make sure of getting.

    * Chipset – required for all systems
    * Audio – required if you want sound.
    * Communication – required for modem/dial up connections
    * Diagnostic – optional
    * Display devices – required for monitor
    * IDE/EIDE – depends on what hard-drive you have
    * Input Device – required to help with touch pad controls
    * Network Device – required if you will have wireless/wired connection, or Bluetooth
    * Removable Media – Optical drivers (CD/DVD drive), USB media, etc.
    * Video Driver – required for your LCD/graphics card

    OK. This time I did my homework ;) This motherboard is made by ECS. It's the model MCP61PM-HM with nVidia's chipset (NVIDIA GeForce 6150SE nForce 430), and Realtek ALC888 HD audio. Here's link to your drivers for Windows XP:
    You can use this ECS link for the video: http://www.ecs.com.tw/ECSWebSite/Pr...-1&DetailName=Specification&MenuID=46&LanID=0
    And probably the audio and chipset too. But in case the audio and chipset drivers at ECS don't work, use these:
    Chipset (from NVidia): http://www.nvidia.com/object/nforce_nf4_winxp32_8.26_11.09.html
    Audio (from MajorGeeks): http://www.majorgeeks.com/Realtek_High_Definition_Audio_for_2KXP03_d4902.html
    The chipset will also include your ethernet drivers and SATA/RAID drivers, and the elusive SMBus driver too, plus a few others.
    For more general info and specs about your motherboard, look at this: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/...38&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&product=3653071&lang=en
    Good luck, and welcome to Major Geeks! :major

    NOTE- the ECS link above is not for the EXACT same model, but it has an almost identical chipset, and the video is the same. And considering that many different chipsets use the same unified drivers, the chipset driver and audio driver at the ECS link should work.

    Thanks dlb!

    I purchased the HP 6030n a few months back, comes with Vista preinstalled. Didn't have any clue of the trouble I'd have to go through to downgrade to XP.

    The links you provided worked perfectly for my HP 6030n with

    * Motherboard manufacturer's name: ECS MCP61PM-HM
    * HP/Compaq name: Nettle-GL8E

    Was looking off and on all over the place for about 2 weeks for drivers to fix 'SM Bus and Other PCI Bridge Device' problem. The other drivers for everything else were not as difficult.. (don't be fooled, still not as difficult as drivers typically are) but the LAN and chipset drivers were a lost cause, nothing would work for XP. I was borderline installing an extra LAN card just so I wouldn't have to be wireless any longer.

    Just so grateful for the point in the right direction I had to register here at your site to post a response thanking the wonderful help you've been.

    (I put extra info in this reply so anyone else searching for the similar problem will be sure to get this page towards the top of their search engines results, and bring them straight here to you guys for the good stuff!)

    Hi and please start new thread veryconfused2 on this topic as the original poster to this has not been back in over a month and answered if they did or not try the suggested ones here, but have you also tried the drivers that dlb mentioned in post #4?

    New thread will get quicker replies generally than older ones.

    Regards
