When I click the VIEW button on my XP Pro files, it always defaults back to TILES - which I can't stand. I much prefer ICONS. How can I lock them in?

Even in the same folder, it will revert back? (I ask because Windows will remember the view setting for hundreds of individual folders)

    Try this:

    1. Go into any folder, and change the view to icons.
    2. Select 'Folder Options' from the 'Tools' menu
    3. On the 'Folder Options' dialog, select the 'View' tab
    4. Press the 'Apply To All Folders' button

Windows will set EVERY folder on your system to the ICON view. If you find that it will still revert to TILES, then you may have a deeper problem. Post back and let us know.

Good on you, Milty. As we say in Australia, 'your blood's worth bottling'.

Just to add, while in Tools, Folder Options, View, under Files and Folders, ensure there's a check mark in the box for "Remember each folder's view settings".
