   Does the xp firewall protect against outgoing requests? Are the free firewalls referenced in the stickies, ZA for instance, better than the xp firewall? Is there enough value added to buy the "Pro" version of ZA?

   No the XP firewall does not provide sufficient protection. You need to use a true firewall like ZoneAlarm or Sygate etc. Yes the Pro version of ZA does provide added value that makes it worthwhile.
