This happens every so often. I have XP sp3,,an old computer built just for work. Intel,,Pentiun.4CPU,,2.50GHz,2.49GHz,760MB. RAM. After sitting awhile I notice a box in the center of my screen with the xp blue trim on top. In the box is a white envelope and next to it a purple circle with the Yahoo Y in it .At the bottom of the box is blank 2 buttons,,if I click them it goes away ,,but nothing works,I got MSE on it and tried to scan but it said "not enough storage". Nothing will work ,,but I can log out then back in and it will work. Any clues????

Open Task Manager before this happens and after this happens and compare what new process or processes are running.

I'm not sure when it will appen again, plodr. All I know is I thought it had something to do wih Yahoo mail because of the envelope and Y. But when it's like that "nothing will work",,no matter what icons I click ,,nothing. I tried Task Manager while it was like that,,but it gave me an error message about, can't excute application,,so I hit start and log out. If I went to Shutdown or Restart ,,nothing happens.

So when the Yahoo mail box pops up the computer freezes?

It's actually just a box,,it has a white envelope in the upper left corner with the purple ball with the white Yahoo y in it . There are no words anywhere,2 rectangle buttons on the bottom,,just like "ok" and "cancel" buttons. Yes,,nothing works ,,click icons and I get the little "move here" menu. The only thing that opened was MSE and when I tried to scan it said something about no storage.Task Manager gave me error mess. When I clicked Control Panel,,a box said can't make shortcut etc(don't remember).

Exact error is needed not "error mess".
You need to write the messages down. I can't help if I have to guess what errors you are getting.

I'm so sorry plodr,,I'm dealling with a very sick family member at the moment ,,forgive me. I'll just get back when it happens again. The Task Manager error was one of those "application failed to initiate",,and the Control Panel error just told me it couldn't make a shortcut in the desired location. When it happens I'll get back here.I'll keep checking here in case you or anyone gets a clue. Thank you so very, very much for your patience.:)

I'm less than patient today too. I'm dealing with problems with my 91 year old mother who lives an hour away. Long distance problem solving is not going well!!!
