XP Home Crashing on Re-install

I'm trying to do a WIndows Repair, and everything goes smooth until the installing drivers portion.

It comes to the Via AGP Filter pack and requests a driver. I first tried cancelling and then I got a bluescreen and system crashed. I have tried providing the file it requests also and the system crashes.

Is there anyway around this? Can I access the device manager somehow to disable this?

 

If using on board video, try installing a video card (PCI, AGP, whatever you have on hand or can borrow) and finish the XP install. Shut down, remove the card, and reboot. That may fix the problem. If using a seperate card and the mobo has on board video, reverse the process.... let us know what happens...

Well I tried this and had SUCCESS. However the ACPI was disabled in bios so it was shutting down like Win95 used to.

Thinking that I could easily just redo Windows via repair like I just did I tried this.

Now I'm back to where I was before. ARGH! I have tried other video cards, and the onboard one. I can't get the system to work with a PCI video card.


Any ideas???

 

I got a PCI video card to work. Cross fingers that it will get by that VIA file...

 

OK, so if I hit Shift F10 I can then manual get to the device manager. Is there anything I can temporarily disable so I can get past this VIAAGP1.sys file?
