    Symptoms:
Have to reboot almost after each user profile change
The screen takes on the appearance of a "safe mode" screen
There are 6 profiles on machine. But several of the profiles got terminally slow.
I had to make a 7th profile and quit using original profile because all programs ran slow on that profile.
Is the software degrading? I run Trend-micro anti-virus & ad-aware. 2-3 year old Dell PC.
    Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks, jrjr

    Welcome to MajorGeeks.com :)

I would suggest you work through this process to the letter, and if you are still having issues, post up the necessary logs as described.

Run ALL the steps in this Sticky thread READ & RUN ME FIRST Before Asking for Support
    • Make sure you check version numbers and get all updates.
Very Important: Make sure you tell us the results from running the tutorial...was anything found? Were you unable to complete any of the scans?...Were you unable to download any of the tools?...Did you do the on-line scans as suggested? etc.

After doing ALL of the above and you still have a problem, make sure you have booted to normal mode and run the steps in the below thread to properly use HijackThis and attach the log:

    Downloading, Installing, and Running HijackThis
    • Make sure you also rename HijackThis.exe as suggested in the procedures. Use analyse.exe for the new name. This is very important due to some new infections going around..
When you return to make your next post, make sure you attach the following logs and that you have run these scans in the following order too:
    • CounterSpy Log - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
    • AVG Antispyware Log - ONLY IF NEEDED you were not able to run CounterSpy. - only for Windows XP, 2K, & NT users
    • Bitdefender Log - from step 6
    • Panda Scan Log - from step 6
    • runkeys.txt - the log from GetRunKey.bat
    • newfiles.txt - the log from ShowNew.bat
    • HijackThis Log
NOTE: You can only attach 3 files in a single message so it will require that you use two messages to attach all of these log

Wow! I expected a deteriorating XP- But you have identified something completely different. I will do as you say- to the letter; but It will have to wait until I get enough free time. But I will be back to you-- Thanks.

    Hi-
OK- I believe that I have completed all the tasks exactly and if I understand correctly, I am supposed to post my logs but in a new thread (not this one) Correct?

No! If you're working on the same computer you should stay in one thread for your problem. I have merged your threads together so please post here from now on.

Before we procede, you should rename HijackThis to "analyzethis.exe" and attach a fresh log once complete.

Thanks- I thought I did it right but at nay rate, here it is. A lot of bad stuff was found and eliminated but I do not think it is all gone. In fact my regular Trend-micro scan took out even more.
    Thanks -jrjr

First, if you didn't purchase AVG Anti-Spyware then uninstall it as your TrendMicro Suite has it's on Anti-Spyware engine.

Your logs look good, I would however recommend running ATF-Cleaner on EACH account to cleanup the junk/temp files.
