Just look at the screenshot I've attached below... it pretty much sums it up....

(Win XP Home SP2 - lots of malware removed but the system is clean now, just trying to repair the last few items)

    THANKS!

I thought I might be some help, but there aren't any settings that I know of to cause that.
You've tried SFC and a repair install?

No, I haven't tried the repair install yet... kind of a last option... I was hoping it was just something I was overlooking in the right-click-select-Properties-select-Customize settings, but I guess not. :cry

The OS is XP MCE and I didn't have an install CD on hand so running SFC was kind of pointless.... will try it tomorrow (if I remember to bring the freekin' CD)!

Go to Start>run>type gpedit.msc>find User configuration>Administrative templates>Start menu and Taskbar, find the problem and modify.

GORAN P....... YOU FREEKIN' ROCK!!!!! :dood
Thanks for the tip, it worked perfectly! Once I found the correct settings, I noticed that having some of the options set as 'Not Configured' (which is the default) is basically the same as disabled, but with other settings, 'Not Configured' is the same as selecting it to be enabled. For example: one of the settings is for "Remove 'All Programs' from Start menu" and when set for Not Configured, it doesn't do anything, so it had to be disabled in this situation.... anyway- THANKS AGAIN!!!!

gpedit.msc is a powerful, yet little known tool. I had no idea you could remove (or make reappear) those items in the Start Menu... that's crazy!
