XP partial freeze getting worse

Hi

About a week ago mm win xp experenced a partial freeze.
ie; cursor jerks, wont move etc. Windows shuts down very slow but works after Reboot.

Checked spyware w/ 3 programs ..spysweeper, adware and the new Microsoft

Adware always finds more than the others but nothing out of the norm.
Dr. Watson on xp shows no problem, defraged.

checked for virus w/ e trust ez no virus.

have had the xp patch update for months with no problem.

What fix or repair program would you suggest??

Win xp home, 2.2 GHZ Toshiba sattellite pc 496 ram

9 gig used out of 28 of the hard drive

Sp2 loaded a few months ago no problems

 

Running the new virus protection now

Any resident A/V app (www.free-av.com) if u dont have one

 

Just found and deleted a virus

W95 Bumblebee1738

Hi

Only that one virus showed up... W95 Bumblebee.

I looked it up and it its from 1999. Weir my other virus programs in the
past would not have picked it up.

Would anyone suggest any other repair programs to run?

19 are in the start menu in system config.

several anti virus

mostly look like ms programs

I went to the startup control panel and unchecked the real player.

For some reason I can not copy and paste to this site.

Just found that same virus w95 Bumbee on my wifes pc and she was not having a problem.

My pc will not run CPL 2.8 after download even though I authorized from security prompt

 

You should not run 2 AntiVir progs at startup or therafter. Run 1 only.Two will inevitably confict and cause problems. My Xp at startup is limited to systray and my AV program (Avast) plus my personal diary. Nero.exe also runs as a checkup for any CD burning I may do but it's my choice as a convenience. Anything other that those above I will run as and when I need them. Hope this helps
