XP Pro migration

I have an old XP Pro machine that I am about to replace with a new XP Pro machine. If possible I would like to keep all the settings and application exactly the same on the new machine.

Is there a way to migrate everything from one machine to ther without having to reinstall the applications. I considered just duplicating the old hard drive onto the new one and then installing it into the new box but I'm worried that STOP 7B errors will occur and doing a repair install wont fix the problem.

Does anyone know a reliable way to do this of any commercial software that will make the transfer easy?

 

I'd love to do the Same thing, though considering that no one has posted a reply; it seems like it's not possible.
