xp pro problem

this happened yesterday whenever i attempt to execute the .exe
for newly downloaded software the pc automatically reboots. i am logged in as administrator and to my knowledge no configuration changes have been made. i can't figure out. ran spybot, all else is fine w/pc. thanks

 

Got to System Properties (rught click My computer, choose Properties).

Go to Advanced tab, go to Startup and Recovery Settings, and uncheck Automatically Reboot under System Failure section.

Now, whats the Stop error code you are getting and are any files mentioned?

update your chipset drivers .. sounds like an intel board?

 

Does it happen with any .exe or just this application? What kind of application is it, and does this problem exist in Safe Mode?

 

i81xdnts.dll Is this a filename mentioned?

When in doubt, go to the properties of the dll, get the actual description of the file and who makes it under the version tab.

 

hi old applications are fine. but anything new won't work i'm uninstalling outlook addin permisions because it was recently installed. thanks

 

I'd be curious to see the information on what this file actually is. I've seen weird issues like this with Intel Application Accellerator.

It must if the Stop error is listing it....

Make sure you go to My Computer- tools-folder options and uncheck hide protected operating system files and put a check in Show Hidden Files and Folders.


Also, under Search options, make sure you have it set to search Hidden Files and Folders, Search System Folders, and Search Subfolders.

I agree.. uninstall it. what ever it is.. it is referring to an intel i81x board i.e. i810 , i815/e etc..

 

if it is an 810 board with inntegrated graphics that might also be an issue. Might want to try updating the graphics driver.

file was i81xdnt5.dll not s changed to 24 bit color it was set on 16bit. i think that solved the problem. i'll let u know. thank you all for your help geeks rule this site has really helped me learn alot. thanks again i'll diagnose now

Graphics driver can't handle it.
