XP Pro Restore

Hello, I am new here, and not a total idiot when it comes to computers, but I am having trouble with my system restore. When I try to create a restore point or restore, I get an error message saying.........System Restore is not able to protect your computer. Please restart your computer, and then run System Restore again. .........But that doesn't work. Any suggestions?

 

I have ran adaware and Zone Alarms spyware, and have not found anything. I still have over 27 gigs free out of a 60 gig hard drive. I am running the search for sr.inf but so far no luck finding it. Where should it be?

 

what about using 3d party backup progs. if draw an analogy system restore like a notepad, and backup progs are word. so it up to you what to choose. i'd recomend using true image from acronis.

 

I have not gone into safe mode. Yes, it is enabled, and I thought I would disable it, but it won't let me. It is telling me the "The System Restore encountered an error tryig enable/disable one or more drives. Please restart your machine and try again.
But I do, and it still won't let me.

I am ready to shoot it. Ok, I will be back and forth today as I have a dog that is getting ready to deliver puppies.

 

Ok, I just tired to go into safe mode, and it seemed like it was going to, then when it went thru the long list after of things after safe mode was selected, it restarted. I have tried several times.

 

so, have you succeeded in windows system restore?
