XP PRO start up irritation

Everytime I start my machine I get the logon window.
I only ever presss enter to get rid of that screen.
Is there any way I can get rid of that logon screen peremanently?

If you have one user who has a password, you will get the logon screen. If you have more than one user-- with passwords or not-- you willl get it. If you don't want it, you'll have to remove all users but one, and remove its password if it has one.

 

I am the only user and I never use a password as I am the only user.
You obviously know your way around the XP system.
Could you please explain how I can get rid of this screen.

Get TweakUI, part of Microsoft Power Toys and it will fix it.

Or just go into your control panel, and choose user accounts. Choose the accounts you want to get rid of, and turn them off (guest) or delete them. Save your primary account, but delete the password (leave the password field blank)

 

This works for XP home, not sure for xp pro...

Open up run and type this in " control userpasswords2 " (without the quotes) and uncheck the "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"

 

I wasn't aware that pro was that much different from home in that respect. SInce I have never used Pro, I suppose it could be. Thanks for the info.

Sorry for taking so long in replying but this is the first time I have been able to get on line since last weekend. The weather up here affects the phone line real bad.
Anyway, 'user controlpasswords2' has done the trick real well.
