Ok so I just got a computer for free, with a freshly installed copy of XP Pro, I haven't really played with the computer, but I want to install W7 Pro on it. with the current specifics can I run W7 Pro without issues.

When I went to check the system information, it came up as 480MB of free space, and like 3 GHZ. is this enough to run W7 or should I get more ram etc? I though about going straight to vista instead but it may not be worth it.

I would do a clean install just to be safe. Upgrading form two oses can cause issues.

He will have to do a fresh install from WinXP to Windows7.

The only issue that might play into this is the amount of memory you have in the PC. You need at least 1 gb of memory.
