XP Profiles

There was an icon for ITunes in the Desktop folder for "all users". My wife and I are the only ones that use this program to update her IPOD Nano. So, with Win Explorer, I moved the icon for ITunes into the desktop folder for her profile, and copied and pasted it into my desktop folder, eliminating it from the kids profiles. My question is this: It appears the icon points to the same execuable in program files (for ITunes), but when I click on the icon, it starts the process of setup and shows none of the mp3's my wife has setup in ITunes, like its another copy of the same program (even though the icon points to the same location)? Not a major problem in this case, just want to gain understanding of manipulating profiles.

 

Have you right clicked on the icon/properties. Is it pointing to the right location?

If not you could try copying the shortcut from your wives account again or right click on that one & copy the path over to yours.

 

Yours and her user profiles are seperate, including your iTunes accounts. That information is not stored in the iTunes folder but in uour user profile in the Documents and Settings folder. That way each of you can have a different library and preferences.

 

Is there a way to have my icon map to her profiles and ITunes account?

 

Why not select her music folder as your library also?

Just add her music folder to your library just like this says.
