    Hello,

I am using the 'classic' theme and 'no sounds', but 90% of the times I reboot Xp changes back to its default settings. Besides being a very annoying problem, I fear there might be something more serious behind it. I already experienced this in the past but *very rarely*, something like once a month or less, but now it happens every day.
I checked the PC for infections with both Avast and Ad-aware, they found a worm/troyan that I chose to delete, but I keep experiencing this problem.

I hope you'll help me to solve this problem!

    Regards

    Welcome to Major Geeks!

Being that your computer has shown signs of infection, I am moving your thread to the Malware Forum as it is necessary to ensure your machine is clean. Follow the instructions in the below link, attaching the requested logs when you finish these instructions. A MajorGeeks.com Authorized Malware Fighter will then work with you to ensure your PC is clean.

READ & RUN ME FIRST. Malware Removal Guide

    • If something does not run, write down the info to explain to us later but keep on going.
Do not assume that because one step does not work that they all will not.

      Notes:
    • If you run into problems trying to run the READ & RUN ME or any of the scans in normal boot mode. You can run steps in safe boot mode but make sure you tell us what you did later when you post logs. See the below if you do not know how to boot in safe mode:
Starting your computer in Safe mode
    • If you have problems downloading on the problem PC, download the tools on another PC and burn to a CD. Then copy them to the problem PC. You will have to skip getting updates if (and only if) your internet connection does not work. Yes you could use a flash drive too but flash drives are writeable and infections can spread to them.

PS I noticed the logs contain many words in my native language instead of English. I should be able to translate what you don't understand.

Your logs are clean......so I would suggest that you post in the software section for further assistance with your problem.

We need to clean up from running the scans:

thank you TimW, but I have a problem in uninstalling Combofix: when writing %userprofile%\Desktop\combofix /u and trying to use that command I receive the message that C:\Documents could not be found. Combofix was on my desktop when it was run and it is still there C:\Documents and Settings\Utente\Desktop

You can delete the ComboFix.exe file from your desktop, C:\ComboFix folder, C:\QooBox folder, C:\WINDOWS\nircmd.exe, C:\combofix.txt and C:\ComboFix-quarantined-files.txt logs that was created. This may leave your system clock showing 24 hour time. If so, go the the control panel / Regional and language / customize / time and set it in the format you prefer. :)
