XP restart at boot up

I have recently purchased a new computer and installed XP fresh. The PC boots and as soon as the XP boot screen has loaded my PC resarts, I have swapped over to a HDD that I know is working, booted the PC up and the same issue occurs!!

Any ideas? Im thinking over heating but still unsure. How can I test this?

 

i put a new system together and 3 days ago while in another form my new system started booting over and over. i broke the system down formatted my drives and tried a fresh install of xp pro no luck. so i tried just xp no again all the way down to win 98 still no luck all my hardware is 3 months old so i am 80% it is software i havent been able to fix it one thing i am goingto try today is flashing my bios formatting my drives and starting from scratch . do you think this problem is a worm trogen ect that is new? and virus programs havent deteted it?

 

Hi Foundted. Boot into the Bios and leave it running. If it doesn't reboot you know it isn't a heating problem. Have you tried booting into safe mode?

 

Change the smps & let check this problem occur again or not

 

I had a similar problem when I plugged my SATA hd into the raid connectors instead of the proper SATA connectors on the mobo (mobo has built in RAID).

 

Another thing that can cause reboots, and did for me, is your power supply. There's a little switch on mine that flips between 115v and 230v. Mine, for some odd reason, came defaulted at 230v. My system constantly rebooted at that setting. Changing it to 115 solved my problem.
