XP Search-Dialing Home on your XP?

    Does your XP-search application dial home when:
    1) turned on, when;
    2) you enter text in the search field or;
    3) if you change preferences?

    Anybody know why it does that?

    On my windows XP it does this and annoys the sensibility out of me. Normally I am calm natured, but it frosts me to see an application doing that (phoning home) surreptitiously and without permission.

    Miscellaneous Particulars:
    Usage Info: I am using XP on an older system, (build 2600.xpsp_sp3_gdr.101209-1647) Version 2002, with just the minimal amount of updates. Have turned most all the non-essential default processes off. Dont use auto updates or outlook. Use IE browser rarely for specific updates mainly.

    Issue I am Curious About:
    When accessing "Start/Search" I notice the machine always dials back to home (65.55.11.179) via explorer.exe ... When entering text for a file on the pc, same thing, it dials back home with my typed text. When adjusting search parameters to a folder, same thing.

    Troubleshooting:
    How do I get this to stop? I only use this function to look for files on the pc. Not requesting to go online to find a file on this pc.

    I use this instead of the built in windows search (2K, XP and Win 7 computers). VoidTools, Everything Search
    http://www.voidtools.com/
    It doesn't phone home because I run an older ZA firewall only where everything, including IE has to ask me permission. I also run either Startup Monitor or WinPatrol which also alerts me.

    The only thing about Search anything and it is minor, once I run it to search, it sits in the tray and I have to exit it or it will remain running. (Ah, I just find the setting in Tools and eliminated this behavior).
