    Hi

I formatted my Hard drive on a IBM Laptop and have since tried reloading XP setup but it gets to the point where it is about to start setup and gives the msg "setup did not find any hard disks on your computer, make sure HDD are powered on or properly connected etc.. I have tried Hirens boot disk and can find the HDD using the disk, I have loaded the XP file system on this way but again it will only load so far and stops. Not sure what to try next?
I have used the boot disk to run HDD scans and they all come up showing no errors.

Anyone had this happen to them and kept their sanity??!!

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks muchly

Is it a SATA HDD? I suspect it is. If so, you need to load SATA drivers either from a floppy disc at the F6 prompt or by slipstreaming them into an updated installation disc.

Hi my friend , What is your laptop's model ? You could go in to bios change Achi to Ide mode , sata driver is missing !! :wave

    Hi guys

Thanks for the replies. my laptop model is an R61e and you are correct it is a sata HD, I looked in the bios for that Ide mode but it is a little different from the one in the pic that you attached (thanks for that too).
Could I get the drivers and load them on to the HD before loading XP? I have access to the HDD with the use of a usb-sata cable, so I can load stuff on to it from my desk top. Not sure about the slipstream idea sounds good but as you can probably tell I doubt I am up to it!

    Thanks again for you help.

    Cheers
