Once again I couldn't access the post to reply to you. I've been a member for over a year I think, is there a reason I can't access this post?

Anyway, I couldn't find the Document (Code:
    C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\
    ~ Nov 10 2007 176594 "~")
you mentioned even running search and even running explorer- could you pinpoint it? I don't recognize it and it should be deleted.

Second, I could not find the READ ME for this system. When I searched for READ ME it only brought up a read me for a video application. Could you explain where I could find the area for disabling restore points? Thanks.

Also, the link for the SP3 led me to all downloads you must purchase. Is there a free download for SP3?

Once again, sorry for a new post but it wouldn't let me access the original.

Exactly what thread are you referring too? Are you referring to another persons thread in the Malware Forum? If so what thread and you cannot post in a thread belonging to someone else because it is not allowed in this forum. That is considered thread hijacking anyway.

Huh??? I have no idea what you are referring to. Are you have malware problems that you need help with?

What system? What READ ME are you referring to and what does this have to do with malware?

See Disable And Enable System Restore But why do you want to remove your restore points?

Still don't know what links you are referring to and this has nothing to do with malware. If you need help with SP3, you should post in the Software Forum.

it is the orignal thread titles XP sp2/3

I've been working with someone on the problems. I started this thread in Software and tehy moved it here. It IS my thread yet I can not access it or reply to the person helping me.

I don't know why they moved it here, you'll have to ask them.

I followed all the steps and then they wanted me to do a few more and that was what I was replying to.

If you are confused, perhaps you should read the original thread in THIS forum where they moved it to.

    Hi purplecrystal,

Chaslang or TimW will be along to assist you as soon as possible with ongoing maintenance to ensure your computer is malware free.

In the meantime I would like to explain to you, after carrying out some investigations, why you have had issues with continuing in your original thread.

Your original thread http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=175149 was created in the Software Forum using your account "Purplecrystals" - account created in November 2008. You then went and replied to Halo's post in your thread using a different account "Purplecrystal" (not plural) - account created June 2008. You have TWO accounts apparently, which we discourage, for reasons such as this. Once it became apparent your thread required malware assistance it got moved to the Malware Forum.

The Malware Forum is unique in the way it operates. Only the member who created the thread and Authorized Malware Fighters can respond to threads in this forum. So, as you were logging in with you SECOND account, Purplecrystal, and the thread was created by your FIRST account, Purplecrystals, you were not able to respond to your own thread. If you log in with the account that originally created the thread you should have no problems responding to your own thread in the Malware Forum.

I hope this clears up the issue that you have experienced, and you will continue to work with our Malware Fighters to clean your computer., They will be able to assist you with any problems you are experieincing with the cleaning procedure and associated downloading of software applications.

ok I have not heard back from anyone and it has been a week or so since I posted. I am still having the problem of not being able to download service pack 2 and or 3 and I followed all the steps and the follow up steps. So I will assume there is something else wrong.

Thanks again for the help. I will try to figure this out on my own. Thanks. you can close this thread

I'm sorry but all of this confusion was caused by you posting under multiple user IDs and because you started multiple threads. You never finished doing what was requested in another thread with TimW because of the user ID owner of the thread being purplecrystals instead of purplecrystal . The thread I'm refering too is http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=175149 If you logged in as purplecrystals you could have posted follow up in that thread.

All this being said, your problems with not being able to install SP3 are not due to malware. You still would be better off working problems like this in the Software Forum.

the reason for the 2 seperate log in names was because they would not let me log in to purplecrystal so I used purplecrystals. I couldn't tell anyone that I couldn't log in because in the 'contact us' information there was just an add about majorgeek-no actual e-mail or contact info.

Also, I DID post it FIRST in the software area and they MOVED it to here.

I followed ALL the steps required THEN I followed all the follow up steps and about 2 weeks ago gave a final response telling them so and got NO response back after I stated I could STILL not download any service pack. So, being ignored, I just decided to drop the matter.

I can still not download but I have made inquiries to microsoft if they don't help me then that is that.

Thanks for the help I did get.

You are logging in just fine now to purplecrystal. Please tell me which login you would prefer to use and I will delete the other account. Make sure that you check that you can login with the account you wish to keep. Note that purplecrystal can only post messages in threads that purplecrystal started (see the first post in the thread). And purplecrystals can only post messages in threads that purplecrystals started.

NOTE: To reply to me in this current thread, you must use the purplecrystal login.

For future reference, the main website gives email addresses of the owners and most Mods and Admins can also be emailed using there user names at majorgeeks.com. The owner info I'm referring to is here: http://www.majorgeeks.com/page.php?id=2

I suggest that you uninstall your iolo software which includes a firewall and then try to get updated. However I suggest that you try to download the XP SP3 update from the below linl:

    Windows XP Service Pack 3

Then try to install the update. If you succeed on getting updated, reinstall your protection software ASAP.
