Re: The XP SP2 upgrade is soooo SMALL!

I'm trying to get a clean backup of a Virtual PC 7 for Macintosh HD image. I started by install from my Retail XP SP1 disk. That image was 1.42GB. I then spent THREE DAYS (No, I'm not a fool. Almost every task on VPC takes greater than 30 minutes, so you have to walk away.) trying to figure out how to upgrade to SP2. VPC runs soooo slow on my 1.25GHz G4 iMac, and the Windows Update starting green bar sequence would always run for 5-25 minutes. I tried to install ONLY SP2, but Ms tries to pimp their updates so hard that I end up have to go through 3 update and reboot cycles before SP2 was even offered. My XP SP2 disk images is now 6.78GB! This is absolutely unacceptable, is won't even fit on a DVD.

Oh, and I don't have a file or folder called "$NtServicePackUninstall$", or "NtServicePackUninstall" in C:/WINDOWS/

My goal is to burn both images to a 4.38GB DVD-R. I'm deleting this XP2 image and falling back to XP1. Please help me get this upgrade performed in a LEAN manor. I tried for 1 complete day to use Firefox and download a stand alone updater, but the Microsoft site leads you in a circle of "you need IE, if you want to use another browser go to the official MS DL site, click here to download and install, you need IE..."

    Please Advise!

Please forgive my ignorance, but since Windows 98, I've avoided Microsoft like a plague.
