XP start up woes

Xp home edithion is giving me abit of trouble.

When I start up my AMD Atholon xp 1800 I only see the background to the

Desktop and nothing else. I have to bring up Task Manager to turn off or end

the highlighted exe file that might be part of the problem. When I shut down

this exe file my desktop apears. The exe. file that seems to be the problem is

(Symlcsvc.exe) a system file or program I guess. Can you tell me were to go

to fix this mess. Could it be a problem with Spy Sweeper or not?

Is it booting fine in Safe Mode? Try going into safemode from the advanced options, and then try a system restore if Safe mode is fine.

 

Yes, Nortons dose seem to running correctly.
